Passionate Fashion Designer/Bartender/Adventurer & Backpacker
'A year-long summer' these are the words that I use to describe my summer 2017.
It all begins with a problem - this time the housing problem. You know, here in the UK it is a big problem for everyone. So my options were to pay 400-600 £ for rent and work all summer or to leave this place and do an unpaid internship. That, let's be honest, no one can afford to do nowadays, but if we think another way around - I could invest my rent money into my professional and personal growth.
Guess what I did?
You know those corny posts about all you need is a TICKET?
UHH, now I get them and I had 9 of them !
First of all being in another side of the world was crazy awareness already. 20-hour flight and the adventure had already started. The great wall of China/ Temple of Haven/ Forbidden city/ Summer palace / Ai Weiwei designed Olympic stadium and M6 Beijing art district. I will let the photos speak for themselves. But I can't imagine the better start than this.
CHENGDU - SICHUAN UNIVERSITY 成都
This should be the serious part of the trip - not! The summer school was an amazing introduction to Chinese and local people life. We had some traditional Chinese painting classes. The most amazing volunteer I met was Heidi. She took us to see traditional Chinese opera and showed us the city from her point of view. I need to mention that without her this part of my trip wouldn't be the same! She was absolutely amazing and introduced us to local culture, food and entertainment. Love you, Heidi !!
It is crazy if you start thinking about the size of cities in China. We think London is huge, but Shanghai is three times bigger. It is impossible not to feel small in this city and getting lost was easier than ever. One of my favourite areas was M50 art district with this crazy street art. Take a look at photos and see the city through my point of view.
HONG KONG 香港
I wish everything was as easy as getting fat, travelling and living in the moment. Hong Kong was probably one of my favourite cities that I have ever visited. It is vibrant international, but still Chinese and most important thing - the best Japanese food I have ever had.
Falling in love with Hong Kong and already in love with China.
The lights part of all trip. KL was just a stop on my way to Ba ba BALI. I really didn't want to go there, but now I don't regret that I did. The city is in progress, everything is being built. New skyscrapers, new streets, but the best part about KL are Uber drivers.
I had such a joy to just wander around this city.
BALI / GILI ISLAND
The peace and quiet to end my amazing adventure. Bali is way better in real life than in movie 'Eat Pray Love'. You can't capture magic of Bali in pictures or on film. I think this island is truly magical and only way to make sure about it is to visit it again, again, again.
I'm perfectly going back to Bali.
This was probably one of the best summers I have had so far. And I'm so thankful to everyone who helped me to go on this adventure, especially Nottingham Trent University and Standers Global travels scholarship. Without it I wouldn't be able to visit all of these amazing places and meet all the people. While I was travelling, time was passing by a bit slower than usual or maybe I was finally on time with time. But as I said it felt like a year-long summer.
I feel richer than ever.
