Passionate Fashion Designer/Bartender/Adventurer & Backpacker
The past seven days have been very stressful – there was huge amounts of preparation to do for the River Island presentation; finalising designs, collecting research and putting it all together. Now that the colour palate had been decided on and the fabrics bought, we were able to finalise the line-up of the collection, which we did on Monday night at a group meeting. Then it was time to do spec drawings of the outfits, which was hard and awful and took nearly all my sanity. Tuesday and Wednesday were a blur, but somewhere in there we managed to collect together our research and establish our muse.
Wednesday evening (and night) was spent preparing the material for the presentation: concept, colour palate, fabrics, muse and drawings were all put together. Sadly, when it came to the presentation it didn’t go how we hoped at all. The feedback we were given was that the collection was overdesigned, but I don’t think it was. I thought that after the presentation and feedback we would have a clear direction and know what we were doing, but it just made everything more complex. We need to regroup now and discuss the next move.
The presentation capped off what was an intense, stressful and upsetting week. The only positive that we can really draw from it is that we finished manufacturing the tailored suit, and are satisfied with the results.
