Passionate Fashion Designer/Bartender/Adventurer & Backpacker
There were a lot of late nights spent in the library this week, but the effort was worth it as we managed to establish all garments! The silhouettes were translated into six outerwear pieces. The first ones we decided on were a long Parka jacket with accented pockets; and a mid-height puffer jacket with a twist on a classic standard – we didn’t want it to look like the standard ones all over stores currently. We also chose to make an iconic bomber jacket with unusual use of colour; a borg jacket with similar accents to the parka. Finally, we wanted to include two essential wardrobe pieces – a long overcoat and a tailored jacket. These are two classic pieces of outerwear and we’re going to design them how they should be.
Towards the end of the week there was a print workshop. During this we drew on all the inspiration we had gathered over the previous few weeks and visualised them into prints. With a mix of the street art we had seen, our image collections and research on mental health issues, we created our prints from scans of depressed and healthy brains. This topped off a productive week, and it’s set the tone for the preparation of the industry presentation next week; there’s lots of exciting themes and patterns that we can display!
